Strong LMSSC showing at Westerns 2009

All four LMSSC teams traveled to Regina, Saskatchewan during the Jan 29th-Feb.1st weekend for the 2009 Western Festival of Synchronized Skating. The teams had a strong showing this season at "Westerns", with the Adult, Junior, and Novice teams all qualifying to compete this year at Nationals at the end of February in Oshawa, Ontario.

The Adult team, Ice X-odus, placed 5th, skating this season to "Tick Tock--It's Time", with innovative choreography by coach Danalee Harrison.

The Junior team, Ice X-treme, brought home the gold medal with their moving performance of "Hope for Africa", choreographed by coach Leslie Rupp to a medley of African-themed music.

The Novice team, Ice X-cel, skated a strong performance Sunday to move up from 3rd place after the first skate to take the silver medal. Their program this year is "The Kite Runner" with music from the movie of the same name, choreographed by coaches Donna Paul and Leslie Rupp.

The Pre-Novice team, Ice X-pectation, placed sixth, skating an energetic performance to music by Michael Jackson. Their program was choreographed by coaches Donna Paul and Leslie Rupp. The coaches said this team scored their best-ever this season at Westerns. Well done!

Congratulations to all teams, their coaches and managers for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to watching the teams grow and improve as the season progresses!
