Lower Mainland Synchro Teams Bring Back Gold from Alberta!
All four teams from LMSSC competed in the Western Regional Festival of Synchronized Skating, held in Camrose, Alberta Feb. 1-3, 2008. The Novice team, skating their dramatic "Nightwish" program, successfully defended their gold medal from 2007. They placed first among 7 teams in their division. The Adult team had their coach, Danalee Harrison, in tears as their first place finish was announced. It was a memorable occasion on their first visit to "Westerns". Adding another gold medal win for the club was the Junior team, with a moving performance of their "Freedom" routine, skated to a compilation of music and lyrics, including words by Martin Luther King Jr., and "Imagine" by John Lennon. They placed first in a field of 15 teams. The Pre-Novice team skated enthusiastically to a medley of tunes in their "Love" performance, which coaches said would have made the Beatles proud. They placed fifth in a field of 10 teams. Pre-Novice is one of the most challenging divisions, as there are no age restrictions.
Well done skaters and coaches! You should all be proud!
